Calla Pattern

At last! I have the calla pattern and will part with it. It is an 11 page booklet (including the cover) with instructions, and some troubleshooting tips. I am offering it for $20 and that includes the shipping. If you are interested, please email me. You can see a picture of the calla here.

Some flower details

To answer some of the questions I've received:

  1. The tulips are from Donna Dickt. You can actually find that tulip pattern in her book French Beaded Designs.
  2. The Bells of Ireland are another one of Donna's patterns. Those you'll have to email her. If you're interested, please contact me and I can pass along her contact info.

Water Lily

Virginia Nathan's Water Lily Posted by Picasa I want to do something like this only put a votive candle holder in the middle of the flower. Twisted the stem wire so it's more like a stem. Beaded all stem wires. It's kind of floppy since the stem holding the flower to the base isn't tightly secured. But if I keep it in one place, it will stay.

Finished corset 1

I don't know why when I'm getting a picture taken, I look fat..or at least kinda chunky. The problem is that I'm not really in real life. It's not that I think I'm fat. I think this is a case where the camera adds 10 pounds.Posted by Picasa
Some details on this...
  • King Tut Cotton on size 7 needles, followed the size small pattern with the 163 cast on sts.
  • 20 buttons down the front
  • I could never figure out the I-Cord cast on so I ended up just doing a regular bind off and cast on at the armholes. At the end, I went back and did a (sc, ch) pattern all around both armholes.

Next up, is a silk version...Fiesta's la Luz (yes, I splurged) and the opening rows already feel really soft.

Lilies

It's that time of the year when the lilies are blooming and aren't they pretty? I saw them and wanted to make one...so my first attempt in the pearl eggshell. Yeah, really busy background, but I was watching the tour de france and I didn't feel like pausing it.

I should blog more

I can't help it if I've been spending most of the past 2 weeks in front of the tv watching le tour de france! There's so much more to cycling than I had thought! Plus, I've been inspired to go spinning at the gym...and that first time back did not agree with my legs. My corset is done, except for 3 more buttons that I still have to sew on. Whoo hoo! Today, I went to Knit Happens and bought me some silk. And there went the rest of the gift certificate I got for my bday. I'll have some pictures soon.

Another week...

Another entry. What am I working on currently? Annie Modesitt's Silk Ribbed Lace Corset. I am knitting this obsessively as I watch le Tour de France. Yes, I've been sucked in by that too. I'm also working on an all pearl eggshell lily (Donna's pattern). Other works in progress but I haven't quite gotten around to it all due to the corset obsession. Apparently, 35" bust measurement doesn't necessarily mean that it will fit over my 35" bust. Oy.

Curtains! I have curtains!

The question has now become...which way should I have the curtains? When they're drawn, should I be able to see the beads? Posted by Picasa

New projects

...and I have even finished some of the old ones! Let's see...where was I? There's the Venezia yarn from Katia in browns. I'm almost done with the body and will soon run across the part that covers the chest...wonder how I'll do that...
Then...surfing the Knit Happens website, I stumbled across the project of the week on the blog. It's a silk corset! I don't know why I have this weird obsession with corsets since they only make eating harder...but I am. And this has been the best looking knitted corset pattern I've seen so far...so I think it's off to AC Moore this weekend to take advantage of some 50% off coupons and I can get started!
