Happy Belated Birthday to me...

This sunflower was a birthday present to myself. Last year, I had made 9 of these. It takes somewhere from 8-10 hours per sunflower. All 9 were given away as presents. My birthday this year was crazy, and it wasn't crazy in a good way. And so I decided to do something for myself. Sunflowers, what a way to go. And using my favorite jet lined ruby beads. Finally! Dutch Iris

This is the Dutch Iris pattern from Bobbe Anderson 4. I've actually got 3 of these babies but this is the only one that's fully complete. Don't have the leaves on the other two. I've been meaning to take a picture of it. I'd originally made it because this was one of those pictureless flowers in my database. I didn't think I'd like it all that much, but it turned out great. Plus, while I was at the Philadelphia Flower Show, I saw some real ones up close

hockey! Minnesota!

It's been a while since I've written anything.
I finished the Dutch Iris out of Bobbe Anderson's book. Need to post a picture. Restarted the tube top cuz the first one was too small.
Went to Albany for the annual ECAC tournament. Cornell beat Harvard for the title. Whoo hoo!
And we got placed in the Minnesota regionals for this weekend so...I'm going to Minnesota! And I get to go to Mall of America if I have time! I'm really excited.

more work, more stuff

Well, you can check out my pet project (when I'm not knitting, or beading) at http://www.beadedflowersdb.com It's a database of all the flower patterns out in existence that have been published somewhere. Many books don't have great pictures and so I take picture donations. Quick, simple search, but it's good enough for most of the beaded flower ladies. I admit, I'm lazy. I just want to type in a word and have pictures spit back out at me. I don't want to flip through 5 different books to compare 5 different patterns on roses.
